Ridiculous

Middle of April? check
Planet Georgia? check

Now could someone explain WHY there is SNOW mixed in with the light rain this afternoon?

As if it couldn’t get any worse, my hands smell like a chicken house.

Someone just shoot me.

The wierdest I've seen it down here is when I lived in Columbus, MS. In mid-Sep one afternoon at work I looked out my window and it was snowing. As I told Olivia I wish I could have gotten a little of your snow, but I could do without the smelly hands. :)

Hope you have a good week ahead of you.

  3. Hey guys.

FM, I've seen four seasons in three days in April, but that was in upper Michigan where such weirdness is almost typical.

O, given the choice between one or the other, I would definitely have taken the snow. :-P

  4. We've had flurries too. There was snow dust on the cars on Saturday.

But the weirdest weather we ever had was in mid-October about 10 years ago. I happened to be home sick that day and so I saw it all....

It started snowing pretty hard around noon -- and we NEVER get snow until well into November.

It Snowed and snowed. And then I started hearing these loud cracks or pops. And a policeman came by to ask if I'd heard gun shots -- but THAT's not what it was....

It was branches cracking from the snow weighing down all the leaves (which were still on all the trees)

We got 12 inches of really wet snow that day. And trees all across this half of the state were wrecked. It was like a tornado had gone through town. No electricity anywhere (almost 1/2 million people lost power, we lost ours for a week). And gigantic trees were down on almost every block.

And the weirdness lasted a long time. Because the piles of tree branches along the sides of all the roads were over 8' tall. And we drove through these darkish channels for months. They had to buy a special machine to chop them up.

We lose a lot of trees to ice storms around here -- but the trees don't have leaves that time of year. So this was worse than anything anyone had ever seen.

So I always worry about this off season snow storms. They can do a lot of damage.

  5. Hey KB. I've been out of power for a week on a couple of occasions. At least in your case, there was plenty of firewood waiting to be picked up!

I have comment moderation on for posts over a week old, but that’s so I’ll see them.
