Retailers call today Black Friday — mobs of shoppers starting the real Christmas season now that Thanksgiving is behind us (burrrrrrp!). I don’t know if this happened everywhere in the US (probably did), but the Christmas stuff started coming out on this planet before the Labor Day grills finished cooling off.
I don’t know why Mrs. Fetched and Daughter Dearest are planning to go shoe shopping today. It would be much better to curl up with a warm laptop and read some quality journalism from The Register. Here’s a few interesting stories they’ve run recently:
A kidnap attempt goes horribly w0rnG!
Drunk Aussie comes up with a novel way of keeping the coppers at bay
Michigan high school student builds working fusion reactor (and this is how word got out)
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day.
ReplyDeleteWe had a quiet time. Our middle boy stopped by with his girl friend and stayed for a couple of hours.
Other than that, it was just the two of us. Which was nice.
Hi FARfetched.
ReplyDeleteI'm joining KB in hoping your Thanksgiving was good.
FMom and I stayed home not wanting to give the rest of the family our colds. We had a nice quiet day though and a lot of good food was brought to us.
I like the stories. It amazes me the stupidity of some people and the brilliance of others. Can't really say which group I would end up in. :)
Hope you have a good weekend.
I vehemently dislike shopping. So, this is not my favourite time of year. I'm in the curl up w/ a whatever category. :)
ReplyDeleteHi guys!
ReplyDeleteWe actually wound up going to the mall Friday and it wasn't too bad! Traffic around the mall was actually better than what I usually see running down there at lunch through the rest of the year, and the only really crowded place was the Apple Store.
FM, that's a good point about "the stupidity of some people and the brilliance of others." I didn't even think about that when I picked out those articles — I just thought they were amazing or amazingly funny. Hope you and the FFamily get better soon....
