Weekend Cinema

It’s October, which means Hallowe’en is coming, so this weekend we’re bringing you a classic feature-length horror film!

Grab a stake and check out The Last Man On Earth, starring none other than Vincent Price. Watch it online, or download an MPEG from the left side of the page.

Based on the chilling Richard Matheson science fiction Classic "I am Legend" and later remade as "The Omega Man" starring Charlton Heston. This classic features Vincent Price as scientist Robert Morgan in a post apocalyptic nightmare world. The world has been consumed by a ravenous plague that has transformed humanity into a race of bloodthirsty vampires. Only Morgan proves immune, and becomes the solitary vampire slayer.

A vampire flick… I need to make sure Carnacki sees this…

  1. That sounds good. Scary movies seem to be a theme this time of year.

We're doing a Hammer Film Festival at work this month. From the legendary Hammer Studios:

    * Oct. 1: Frankenstein Created Woman
    * Oct.8: The Devil Rides Out
    * Oct. 15: The Curse of the Werewolf
    * Oct. 22: The Nanny
    * Oct. 29: Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter

Also, on a totally different subject:

Our daughter just left for NYC -- she's gone for a month. So, I guess she moved her stuff and dog and flew the coop. Weird, isn't it?

  2. Hey KB!

Over posting another comment on the Friday J4T thread, but got curious whether anyone had been by the manor. The film festival sounds like a cool idea; I presume you have a few extras to check out?

You ought to have a look at archive.org sometime; they have a collection of feature films (shorts too) that have passed into the public domain. I'm definitely gonna grab a couple of the Three Stooges ones and convert 'em to 3GPP for my smellphone. ;-)

  3. Hi FAR and KB.

They just had that Vincent Price movie on TV here the other day. I'm going to check out that place you told KB about. I've found out how to hook up my laptop to my TV and it's like watching a regular movie on TV. Well almost. After a certain amount of time I have to click to keep going.

  4. Hey FM. There's probably a way to turn off screen saver or power saver settings on your laptop — but I hope it gives you separate settings for battery & plugged in. Enjoy the movies. I keep my podcasts at archive.org too.

  5. Sorry I missed this earlier, FAR! Just saw that one a couple of weeks back when it was on TCM. I love Richard Matheson stuff, though after seeing this as a kid (terrified) and now again as an adult (less impressed) it has lost something over the years. But I'm such a Vinnie fan that I'll watch anything of his at least once ... to prove my point, just found a copy of The House on Haunte Hill (the one and only original one!) last weekend ... always one of my faves!

Hey KB, that sounds like fun (I'm a big Hammer fan from way back). I hope you got to see The Devil Rides Out... that's one I pull out every year from our collection.. it's a bit dated but still very effective in the atmosphere dept. Besides, how many times do you see Christopher Lee playing a hero??? LOL Sorry to hear about the flown coop! Have you checked FAR's chicken houses yet?

  6. IVG, Katie's daughter would have to be even crazier than we are to hide out in the chicken houses.

    Pee You!!!

Comments are welcome, and they don't have to be complimentary. I delete spam on sight, but that's pretty much it for moderation. Long off-topic rants or unconstructive flamage are also candidates for deletion but I haven’t seen any of that so far.

I have comment moderation on for posts over a week old, but that’s so I’ll see them.
